General Information

All students will be grouped by grades and will be instructed by certified New York State Teachers.
Second graders cannot use the Summer Faith Formation Camp as their First Communion Preparation. They will need to attend Faith Formation September 2012 to May 2013 at no additional charge.

First Penance

April 28, 2012. Today, our parish celebrated First Penance with 116 second graders. We began with a simple, but meaningful prayer service. Fr. Prior read the parable of the prodigal son from Luke 15:11-32. Just as the son returned to the father seeking his forgiveness for his mistakes, we are reminded that we must also return to the Father, through the Sacrament of Reconciliation, seeking forgiveness of our mistakes.

The second graders, who’s sins don’t compare to ours as adults, learned that simple lesson. They were examples to us, the older folks! With confidence and readiness, they lined up one by one to have that beautiful and powerful experience. They received God’s grace today and healed those little breaks in their relationship with Him.

We continue to pray for our little ones as they soon will be receiving their First Communion. May God’s love, which is a love beyond all our understanding, continue to be a source of strength for their parents and for them as well.

It is with great excitement that we welcome Emily Wood as our new Life Teen Youth Minister. Emily has been a parishioner all her life here at Holy Family and also was a Teen in the Life Teen program…way back when! After graduation from West Genesee High School she went onto to study Community Psychology at St. Bonaventure University.

Emily started at Holy Family in March and has been a great addition to the staff and to the ministry. She has a lot to offer and we all look forward to the many adventures that lie ahead!

Leadership Retreat

Leadership Retreat!

Who can go? Any Teen in grades 9-11.

Where’s this gonna be? Mello’s Retreat Center, Jacksonville, Vermont

What’s the cost? $50 per person

When are we going? July 5-8, 2012

How we gettin’ there? 12 passenger vans

What do I need to bring? Pillows, Sleeping bags, comfortable clothes, overnight supplies (tooth brush, shampoo, soap)

We sleep in a tent? No! We’re sleeping on beds in rooms. The sleeping bags help save us money by not needing to use the sheets at the retreat center.

Who’s leading the retreat? Dave and Terrie Dumaine. The Teens met Dave during the February Retreat.

Socks, Socks and More Socks!

Catholics In Action!
During the month of February, our Faith Formation and Youth Ministry program collected over 800 pairs of socks. As part of our efforts as Catholics, we continue to give of ourselves to those who are in far greater need than many of us – something as simple as a pair of socks.

The socks were donated to several local shelters as well as two elementary schools in the city. We are so blessed that so many families continue to participate in this ministry that truly makes a huge difference.

As we continue to move forward, please pray for all those who are benefiting from this ministry. May God’s love and peace continue to comfort them through us as we strive to be his hands!
