Life Teen Mission Statement
“Life Teen is an international Catholic movement that serves the Church by providing resources and faith experiences that help lead teens closer to Christ. This is accomplished through a vibrant Eucharistic spirituality and by creating opportunities for teens to grow in their faith.”
What is Life Teen?
Life Teen is a Catholic youth ministry program that began in 1985 at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church in Mesa, Arizona. There are now over 1,600 parishes around the world that have adopted the Life Teen program, which is geared towards high school teens in grades 9-12.
Life Teen began here in at Holy Family Parish in 2001 and has continued with great success since then on Sunday nights. In the Life Teen philosophy teens are recognized as a sub-culture; the Mass and the entire program are designed to address the specific needs of teens today. This new vision of teen ministry allows the teen to immerse him or herself in the life of the parish and on a larger scale, of the Church. Life Teen provides our teens with a “Catholic Identity”.
Spring Semester, 2012
The truth about Morality
This semester is all about morality. We can all agree that it is a challenge to live out the Catholic teaching on morality in today’s culture. There is a constant bombardment of mixed messages on sexuality, ethics, what is truth, what is beautiful, and what is truly good. The Church’s teaching on morality is constantly being criticized and questioned on many levels. The media often portrays Catholic moral teaching as antiquated, controlling, and repressive, something that denies freedom. The reality is that the world is lying. The question is, are we going to buy into the lies or seek the truth?
“I appeal to you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may prove what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” Romans 12:1-2
“Young people of America and the World, listen to what Christ the redeemer, is saying to you.”
Blessed Pope John Paul II
